2.1 Account Information
When you create an account through Clerk (our authentication provider), we receive and store:
- Email address
- Full name
- Profile picture (if provided via OAuth)
- Authentication provider identifier (e.g., Google ID)
Passwords and authentication credentials are managed exclusively by Clerk and are never stored on our servers. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
2.2 Audio & Translation Data
To provide the translation service, we process:
- Audio captured from your microphone (streamed in real-time)
- Transcribed text derived from your speech
- Translated text output
- Synthesized audio sent to listeners
- Source and target language preferences
Important: Audio is streamed and processed in real-time. It is not permanently stored on our servers. Transcriptions and translations are temporarily held in memory during active sessions only and discarded when the session ends.
2.3 Usage & Billing Data
- Translation session duration (in minutes, for billing purposes)
- Monthly minutes used and remaining balance
- Subscription plan and tier
- Payment method details (stored and processed by Stripe — we never store card numbers)
- Purchase history for additional minute packages
2.4 Technical & Device Data
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- IP address (country-level only)
- WebSocket connection metrics
- Error logs for debugging and service improvement
3. How We Use Your Information
- Deliver and maintain the real-time translation service
- Authenticate your identity via Clerk
- Track and enforce your subscription's minute allowance
- Process payments and billing through Stripe
- Deliver translated audio to room listeners via WebSocket
- Send transactional emails (account, subscription, billing events)
- Monitor and improve service performance and accuracy
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services We Use
Talkeando! relies on the following third-party processors. By using our service, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these providers in accordance with their own privacy policies:

- All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit
- WebSocket audio streams are encrypted via WSS
- Authentication tokens are managed by Clerk with industry-standard security
- Payment data is tokenized and stored by Stripe — we never handle raw card data
- Server-side rate limiting and input validation
- Access to production systems is restricted and logged
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active; deleted upon verified account deletion request
- Audio data: Never stored — real-time processing only
- Translation session metrics: Retained for 90 days for analytics and billing verification
- Billing records: Retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations
- Error & security logs: Retained for 12 months
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format

8. Cookies & Storage

Talkeando! is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately at privacy@talkeando.com.
10. International Data Transfers
Our servers are hosted in the United States (DigitalOcean). If you access the service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. We ensure that our third-party providers maintain adequate data protection standards consistent with this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a notice in the application. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
